Everything you need to know before registration opens for the Founding Edition of the Hybrid Heart 5K & 10K Trail Race.
What is Hybrid Heart?
Hybrid Heart is a new community trail race organized by Hull Sunday Run Day and the Hybrid Hobbyists in memory of Carole Rocheleau.
The Founding Edition will bring athletes and communities together in support of the Ottawa Cancer Foundation.
When and where is the race?
The race will take place on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at Wesley Clover Parks in Ottawa.
Race weekend begins on Saturday, October 24 with bib pickup and the Hybrid Heart Race Village.
What distances are available?
Participants can choose between:
A 5K trail race covering one lap of the course
A 10K trail race covering two laps of the course
Both races start and finish beside the Race Village.
Is the course suitable for new trail runners?
Yes. The course is intended to offer an approachable introduction to trail racing while still providing an engaging challenge for experienced runners.
Participants should still prepare for natural trail surfaces and changing late-October conditions.
When does registration open?
Registration opens on Monday, August 24 and closes on Sunday, October 18 at 11:59 p.m.
Registration may close earlier if the event reaches its capacity of 500 participants. There will be no onsite registration during race weekend.

Early pricing: August 24 to August 30
5K: $49.99
10K: $59.99
Regular pricing: August 31 to October 4
5K: $54.99
10K: $64.99
Late pricing: October 5 to October 18
5K: $59.99
10K: $69.99
Applicable taxes and Race Roster processing fees will be added at checkout.
What is included with registration?
Registered participants will receive:
Professional chip timing
A custom wooden Hybrid Heart finisher medal
Professional race photography
On-course support
Access to the Race Village
Eligibility for competitive awards
Where do the proceeds go?
100% of net proceeds from Hybrid Heart will be donated to the Ottawa Cancer Foundation.
Net proceeds are the funds remaining after the direct costs of organizing and delivering the event have been paid.
Do I need to fundraise?
No. Personal fundraising is completely optional.
Participants who want to increase their impact will be able to create individual fundraising pages and collect additional donations through the registration platform.
When do the races begin?
The current race-day schedule is:
8:00 a.m. Race Village opens
9:00 a.m. 5K begins
9:20 a.m. 10K begins
11:00 a.m. Awards presentation
A complete participant guide will be shared with registered runners before race weekend.
When can I pick up my bib?
Primary bib pickup will take place at Wesley Clover Parks on Saturday, October 24. Exact Saturday hours will be announced soon.
Limited race-morning pickup will be available for participants who cannot attend on Saturday.
Can spectators visit the Race Village?
Yes. Supporters and members of the public are welcome to visit the Race Village and connect with participating vendors, brands and community organizations.
Are dogs, strollers and headphones permitted?
Dogs and strollers are not permitted on the race course.
Headphones are permitted, but participants must remain aware of other runners, volunteers and course instructions.
Will there be a bag check?
No. Participants should leave unnecessary belongings securely in their vehicles. Organizers are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Will parking be available?
Participant, volunteer and vendor parking will be available onsite. A detailed parking and arrival map will be released before race weekend.
